Photovoltaic roof

The generation and use of renewable energy is playing an increasingly large role. Grid-coupled photovoltaic plants already significantly contribute to the energy supply in Europe. Hereby the radiating energy of the sun is directly converted into power or heat.
Roofs due to their exposed position and size provide the ideal surface to install large plants. This was also the case at the REWE supermarket in Gelsenkirchen-Rotthausen. The newly erected front roof above the entrance offers the ideal conditions to operate a photovoltaic plant. Our solution consists of an open visible and optically attractive supporting framework of steel tubes for the solar panels. Under the 320 sq.m full area the customers are provided with an effective protection against the elements when arriving and departing and the operator enjoys the approx. 30,000 kWh of power each year.
